Digitization on wheels - How the Herzoglich Bayerisches Brauhaus Tegernsee makes its forklift trucks smarter
🚧 Initial situation and challenges
The contact between the Herzoglich Bayerisches Brauhaus Tegernsee and
openthinclient came about in mid-2023. The head of IT there was looking for a new

Solution for the forklift terminals
The warehouse management software was migrated to virtual Windows machines, which significantly increased performance and stability.
The lean openthinclient OS was installed on the existing Panasonic ToughPads, which meant that it was not necessary to purchase new tablets.
The operating system starts extremely quickly (within a few seconds), and the tablets show a Windows RDP session to the terminal server in full screen mode immediately after booting.
The changeover went almost unnoticed by the forklift drivers, as they were able to continue operating their tablets as usual.
Since openthinclient now handles the WLAN connection, it is tolerant of latencies. In the event of WLAN dropouts, reconnect attempts are made automatically and very quickly.

The brewery's IT department worked closely with openthinclient and developed a flexible solution:
As part of a test project, Panasonic ToughPads were equipped with openthinclient and the warehouse management software was migrated to virtual Windows machines. The changeover went almost unnoticed by the forklift drivers, as they were able to continue using their tablets as usual.
With the introduction of the openthinclient solution, Herzoglich Bayerisches Brauhaus Tegernsee was able to significantly increase the stability, efficiency and sustainability of its IT systems.

The Herzoglich Bayerisches Brauhaus Tegernsee, idyllically situated on the eastern shore of Lake Tegernsee in the foothills of the Alps in Upper Bavaria, looks back on a long tradition.
