100 clients, 0 stress - Like TRAUSSNIG Spedition GmbH reduced the admin effort to almost zero
🚧 Initial situation and challenges
„It takes a lot of admin work to manage our Fujitsu ThinClients with different
eLux versions,“ recalls Horst Steinkellner,
IT manager at TRAUSSNIG Spedition GmbH.
The IT department was faced with a number of challenges:
- Different software versions without a central structure
- High effort required to restore defective thin clients
- Small IT team that does not have the resources for complex installations, Configurations and updates had
️ Implementation with openthinclient
The decision was made to download openthinclient and test it virtually first.
Initial experiences have been consistently positive:
- The installation was quick and easy
- Minor stumbling blocks, such as the NumLock default setting
The majority of the existing Fujitsu Futros could continue to be used. Only very old devices were replaced by refurbished hardware from a local dealer.
Technical requirements
The ThinClients automatically start an RDP session to the terminal server.
Most office workstations have two monitors in use - occasionally three or four.
The devices themselves are mounted invisibly on the back of the monitors using VESA brackets - the look should also be right.
The setup is supplemented by forklift terminals based on Android
and Zebra mobile devices.
Conclusion and feedback
Once installed and set up - it just works. No constant fuss, no complicated processes - just what the team needed. A total of around 100 ThinClients are operated at four locations.
