Situación inicial y retos
In der Produktion der RONAL GROUP liefen zahlreiche industrietaugliche Terminals, die vor allem eine einzige Anwendung benötigen: die IBM-i-Emulation bzw. eine interne Web-Applikation.Trotz des geringen Funktionsumfangs war auf jedem Terminal ein vollwertiges Windows-Betriebssystem installiert (XP bis 10). Dies brachte:
- funciones innecesarias (por ejemplo, juegos como el Solitario)
- largos tiempos de aprovisionamiento: La instalación de la imagen y la configuración final tardaron ≈ 4 horas por dispositivo
- Gran esfuerzo de mantenimiento y seguridad (políticas de grupo, restricciones USB, personalizaciones del menú de inicio)

️ Implementación con openthinclient
El primer paso fue analizar varios conceptos y proveedores de thin client. La elección recayó en openthinclient, ya que esta solución cumplía varios requisitos clave:
- Arranque PXE, inicio automático de aplicaciones, intercambio rápido (< 5 min.)
- Control centralizado en modo quiosco
- Uso continuado de los robustos terminales Hematec (-20 °C a +60 °C)
Requisitos técnicos
Todos los requisitos técnicos exigidos a un sistema informático industrial podrían hacerse realidad.
- Instalación rápida: arranque en red mediante PXE, gestión centralizada de la configuración
- Alta seguridad: interfaces USB bloqueadas, sistema operativo de sólo lectura
- Mantenimiento mínimo: no requiere actualizaciones locales, se sustituye en cuestión de minutos.
- Escalabilidad: DE, MX, CZ, PL, otras plantas posibles
Conclusión y comentarios
La aplicación es tan convincente que openthinclient se ha definido ya como el estándar de toda la empresa para los entornos de producción.
- La disponibilidad de la producción aumenta considerablemente y se reducen los costes por averías y tiempos de inactividad.
- Esfuerzo de administración reducido al mínimo: consola centralizada en lugar de mantenimiento manual de los clientes.
- Mayor seguridad informática: sin programas superfluos ni descargas de datos por USB.
- Los empleados se centran en sus actividades principales: se acabó el „pasar el tiempo“ en el terminal.
- ha demostrado su eficacia y se ha establecido como norma para todo el Grupo.
„Supongamos que hoy se estropea un terminal en producción. Entonces voy al almacén, consigo uno nuevo... hago una reserva de IP en el DHCP y la creo en el gestor de openthinclient. Todo esto lleva unos 5 minutos, incluyendo el arranque y la marcha, y entonces mi colega puede volver al trabajo. Con nuestra anterior solución Windows, sólo la instalación de la imagen llevaba unas cuatro horas“.“
